NOW AVAILABLE - Choking Flagged as an Incident

Written by Rachel Martin

Due to the high risk of injury with a choking episode, we have included the ability to automatically create an incident form when creating a choking care note. This ensures that the appropriate post incident checks are performed for the resident, which reduces the risk of delayed injuries and hospitalisation.

To enable the setting to automatically create incident forms, go to the Admin menu, click Organisation details and click on the Customisation link at the top right-hand side of the page.

Within this page, there will be a new checkbox at the bottom of the settings list for Flag Choking as an incident automatically. By default, this setting will be Disabled. Tick the box to enable. This will enable the new workflow for the whole organisation.

Once enabled, when recording a choking intervention care note, the Incident tick box will be automatically selected. It will not be possible to deselect this option on the care note. However, this can be done through the existing care note correction process if needed.

Once the choking intervention care note is created, an incident form will be visible within the incident process report to complete.
