Where to Find The Mattress Check Chart

Screen 1: Mattress Check Chart Entry Point

The Mattress Check Chart can be accessed from:

Charts → Personal Safety → Mattress check chart

Mattress Check Chart Deep-Dive

The Mattress Check Chart displays recorded mattress checks based on the filters you apply. When first opened, the chart loads in an initial state with no data shown until filters are selected.

Key capabilities include:

  • Viewing mattress checks by month and service user

  • Reviewing daily mattress checks across the selected period

  • Identifying completion and outcome status for each check

  • Accessing detailed care notes linked to specific mattress checks

Initial State (Before Filters Are Applied)

When the Mattress Check Chart first loads:

  • The Filters section is displayed at the top of the page

  • No mattress check data is shown by default

  • An informational message prompts the user to apply filters

What this shows

A message indicating that no information is currently available until filters are applied.

Use this to:

  • Understand that user input is required before loading data

  • Avoid unintentionally reviewing incomplete or irrelevant results

The Filters section allows you to define which mattress check records are included in the chart.

Available filters include:

  • Select Month – choose the month for the checks

  • Select Year – choose the reporting year

  • Service User – select all service users or a specific individual

Once filters are set, select Apply Filters to load the chart.

Use this to:

  • Review mattress checks within a specific reporting period

  • Focus on an individual service user’s mattress checks

  • Narrow results for audits, reviews, or inspections

Once filters are applied, the chart displays a structured table of mattress check records.

Each row represents a service user.

Each column represents a date within the selected month.

Each cell displays:

  • The status of the mattress check

  • The time the check was recorded (where applicable)

  • Staff initials indicating who completed the check

  • A link to view additional details

Statuses are displayed using clear icons and labels, including:

  • Done – the check was completed

  • Declined – the check was declined by service user

  • Refused – the check was refused by service user

  • Suspended – the service user was temporarily suspended

  • Not Available – the cell contains no data

Use this to:

  • Identify missed or incomplete mattress checks

  • Monitor pressure care compliance over time

Viewing Mattress Check Details

Selecting View within any chart cell opens the related care note.

This includes:

  • Details of the mattress check performed

  • Any issues identified with the mattress

  • Actions taken or required

  • Staff member and time of record

Full contextual information captured at the time of the mattress check.

Use this to:

  • Review mattress condition and pressure care actions in detail

  • Support follow-up actions or escalations

  • Provide evidence for inspections or audits

Filtering by Individual Service User

When a specific service user is selected:

  • The chart refreshes to show only mattress checks linked to that individual

  • The service user’s profile header is displayed above the chart

Use this to:

  • Review an individual’s mattress check history

  • Monitor ongoing pressure care needs

  • Support personalised care planning

Empty State (After Filters Are Applied)

When filters are applied and no matching mattress check records are found:

  • The Filters section remains visible at the top of the page

  • No mattress check data is displayed

  • An informational message confirms that no results are available

What this shows

A message confirming that the selected filters returned no mattress check records.

Use this to:

  • Adjust the selected month, year, or service user

  • Confirm that no checks exist for the selected criteria

  • Avoid assuming missing data where no records are present

Navigation and Page Controls

Screen 9: Navigation and Page Controls

The navigation controls provide quick access to key actions and page navigation options while viewing the Mattress Check Chart.

They allow users to:

  • Copy the chart data using the Copy API link for sharing or integration

  • Print the current view of the chart for offline review or records

  • Quickly return to the top of the page using Return to top

  • Pin or unpin the Filters section to keep filter controls visible while scrolling
