Zebra HC25 Rebuild and Lockdown Guide

Written by Rachel Martin

1) If the device appears like a normal phone with generic applications installed then please follow these steps first:

  • Go into Settings, scroll to the bottom of the settings page and select System. From the bottom of the next page select Reset Options and then Erase all data. Delete all data.

If the device is already on the Welcome Screen then please follow these instructions:

  • Tap the welcome screen 10 times. You will then be presented with a camera view that allows you to scan the barcode.

2) When it shows you the page with all the available Wi-Fi networks select yours and insert your password. Click next or accept and continue on any subsequent pages.

The enrolment process will automatically install the applications for that policy. The only user interaction required is to change any of the device settings that need to be changed before full lockdown which are detailed below.

3) Once all is loaded and the device has settled on the home screen swipe up from the bottom of the screen and select the MCM Device Settings App. If it does not show immediately the applications may still be downloading. When you click in the first time you will need to Allow permission and then press the back arrow in the top left corner

4) In this app press the button on the middle- right side of the screen, and going to “Model and Hardware”. The serial number is listed on that page. Press and hold on it to copy it. Press the home button in the bottom middle of the device.

5) Swipe up from the bottom of the screen again, and this time from the Apps List select the MCM App.

6) Enter the Username and Password that you use to log into the MCM computer system, and then tap the Authenticate button (if you don’t have the access rights to do this then you will need to contact your manager).

7) Paste the serial number. you copied earlier into the Serial Number field and do the same in the Device Name field, unless you have your own Device ID system (in which case, use that in the Device Name field).

8) Select the Organisation from the first drop down (there should only be one), and then the Location you are at from the second drop down. Then press the Green Update button.

9) When the device has finished having the background set up, you will need to go back the support team and ask them to Update the MDM. The device should then be fully locked down.

If the device does not alter after the support team have confirmed the locking of the device, you may need to nudge the device if the Wi-Fi is poor. To fix this, from the main home screen wipe up the device to load to App List. Open Settings, go to Google, then Device Policy. In here you will see three dots in the top right corner. Tap that button, press Sync policies and the device will slip into kiosk mode.
