Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page where there should be Software Update, click into this. Ask the device to Download and Install. You may have to repeat this process a few times until the device has fully downloaded and installed to the most recent operating system. You will know when it is fully complete as it will say on the screen in front of you “Your software is up to date”
DEVICE BUILD
Scroll to the bottom of the settings page and select About Phone. From the bottom of the next page select reset options and then Factory Data reset. Reset the phone.
Once the device has reset completely and you are looking at a blue screen with a green start button. DO NOT PRESS THE START BUTTON. Set the language in the middle of the screen to English (United Kingdom). To enrol a device, tap the background of the welcome screen 6x and then connect to the WiFi. You will then be presented with a camera view that allows you to scan the barcode.
The enrolment process will automatically install the applications for that policy. The only user interaction required is to change any of the device settings that need to be changed before full lockdown which are detailed below.
Once all is loaded and the device has settled on the home screen swipe up from the bottom of the screen and select the mCare Device Settings App. You will be told you don’t have permission, if you just grant the permission and press the back button in the bottom left corner.
In this app select the camera icon in the top left corner, and scan the QR code again. On the page that appears unselect the ‘Use system languages’ slider and turn on the ‘English (US)’ slider, leave the English (UK) selected.
Press the back button in the bottom left until you are back at the mCare Device Settings screen. Press the copy button at the end of the Serial Number line. Press the solid home button in the bottom middle of the device.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen again, and this time from the Apps List select the mCare App.
From here you will need to enrol the mCare App.
MCM ENROLLMENT
Firstly, ensure that the top line of text read “Enroll this device to the MCM system in”. Then enter the Username and Password that you use to log into the mCare computer system, and then tap the Authenticate button (if you don’t have the access rights to do this then you will need to contact your manager). Paste the IMEI No. you copied earlier into the Serial Number field and the Device Name is the Device ID you noted down at the beginning of this process. Select the Organisation from the first drop down (there should only be one), and then the Location you are at from the second drop down. You will then be able to press the Green Update button.
MDM LOCKDOWN
When the device has finished having the background set up, you will need to go back the support team and ask them to Update the MDM.
The device should then be fully locked down.
If the device does not alter after the support team have confirmed the locking of the device you may need to nudge the device if the wifi is poor. To fix this, from the main home screen wipe up the device to load to App List. Tap the play store icon then tap Android Device Policy application. In here you will see an open button and a time next to it which is probably a little bit in the past. Tap the refresh button and the device will slip into kiosk mode.
