NOW AVAILABLE - Behaviour Details Slider

Written by Rachel Martin

Capturing the right details for behaviours at the point of care can be complex and time consuming if carers are not provided with the right tools. This can require carers having to recall details of a distressed reaction after the incident has occurred and therefore lead to inconsistencies in data capture.

The Behaviour details slider provides a form on the device, which guides the user through more comprehensive questions on the behaviour and ensures a much more informative care note.

The slider will be disabled by default. It can be enabled by going to Admin > Organisation details > Customisation. There is a checkbox on the right hand side:

The Behaviour details slider will appear within each emotional support care action:

When clicking on the Behaviour details slider, a form will appear for the user to complete.

  • Warning signs – any noticeable changes in behaviour which indicated a potential distressed reaction.

  • Antecedents – the potential triggers for the behaviour, what happened just before the behaviour.

  • Behaviour – What happened during the event.

  • Intensity – how intense was the behaviour.

  • What worked to reduce the behaviour? – what actions were taken to help de-escalate.

  • What didn’t work to reduce the behaviour? – was there anything tried which either didn’t work or made the behaviour worse.

  • Consequences/Outcomes – What was the consequence or impact of the behaviour.

  • Others involved or impacted – Was there anybody else present during the behaviour.

  • Behaviour category – click the grey arrow and choose from a defined multi-select list of behaviour categories. If none of the categories are suitable, there is an option for Other which displays a free text box.

  • Other details – any other important or relevant details to capture.

The Antecedent, Behaviour and Consequences fields all have help text to guide the user of what to input in those fields. To expand the text, click on the blue information icon.

Once the form has been completed, click save on the form and it will create a detailed care note.

The rest of the care action can be filled out as normal, to create a care note in mCare.
