We are introducing a new Person’s Strengths free-text field within the Goal details form. This field allows care teams to capture a human-readable, narrative description of a person’s strengths and assets, specifically those relating to their goals and hopes about their health and well-being.
What this means for you
A dedicated “Person’s Strengths” free-text area is now available on the Goal details form.
The field supports non-mandatory free-form narrative input enabling meaningful and descriptive entries.
The Strengths section will also be included when the Print Goal option is selected, ensuring it appears in any printed or exported record.

Why we’re making this improvement
This change is part of our ongoing work to align with MODS (Minimum Operational Data Standard) requirements. MODS is the NHS framework that defines the standards digital social care and health systems should meet to support personalised, outcome-focused care planning.
Capturing a person’s strengths in a structured, accessible free-text field alongside their goals helps ensure care records reflect not only clinical needs and outcomes, but also the capabilities and aspirations of the people being supported.
