Written by Rachel Martin

Induction/Overview:

Person Centred Software (PCS) are committed to delivering high-standard products to help ensure that our users have the right tools to be able to deliver and capture personal records; and evidence the delivery of care and wellbeing of the individuals cared for, in real time and with ease.

This document will detail the improvements made to mCare as part of the September 2024 release.

Email Notifications :Adverse Incidents:

Please note this feature is currently in a preview version and not available to all customers. The email notifications will however be available by default for any organisation who has Action Plans. If you do not have Action Plans and would like to know more, please contact Customer Success: [email protected]

For some users who are not frequently logged in to mCare, it is important to be notified of any important adverse incidents when they are not in the home. The email notifications feature will provide key notifications for any new accidents, incidents and falls which have occurred within a home and allow quick access to view the detail of the forms.

Once the license is enabled, email notifications can be turned on at either an Organisation level or a Care Site, by going to the Admin menu – click Organisation Details – click on any care site (row with the blue background) or Customisation and click the Email notifications link at the top of the page.

Within the email notifications page, there will be a heading for Organisation settings. By default, email notifications will be disabled, to enable please tick the Enabled check box.

Once ticked, two additional options will be displayed under Organisation settings for Enable accident/incident/falls notifications, which will be ticked by default and a dropdown to select email recipients.

If selecting email recipients at the organisation level, these users will receive email notifications for all care sites they have access to across the organisation. To add a new recipient, click on the dropdown menu.

Within the menu you will see the names of all users within the organisation with their email addresses, which can either be scrolled through manually or use the search bar to search for a specific individual.

Click the recipient you wish to add and then click the Add button

This will then add the selected email recipients to the list on the right-hand side. From this list, it is possible to remove recipients if needed by clicking the red cross button.

It will also be possible to override the organisation level settings at a care site level. If there are a large number of care sites in your organisation, it will be possible to folder the list using the search box.

To do so, under one of the care sites listed, tick the Override organisation recipients tick box.

In the same way as the organisation settings, it will then be possible to add recipients specific to that home up to a maximum of 5 recipients.

The dropdown list of email addresses will be filtered to only those who are part of that care site.

Once all your email recipients are added, click Save at the top of the page. Email notifications will be sent twice a day, one morning email and one afternoon email for any new accidents, incidents and falls which have been created that day.

The email will be a single email for all care sites you have been configured to receive emails from.

The email will be broken down by category of accident, incident and falls and then further broken down by home. No detail of the adverse incidents will be contained within the email for security purposes, however it will be possible to click the View button to be taken directly to the related form to see the details.

Please note, if you are not already logged in to mCare, you will be asked to input your login details.

Skin Integrity Check

A new option will be added to allow a Skin Integrity Check to be automatically created when a resident is added to the system or when they return to the home. Upon admission or readmission to a home, it is good practice to review skin integrity and check for any existing wounds. This can be common on discharges from hospital for example and needs to be captured as soon as they are admitted to the home. When a new resident is created and they have a move in date in the future, a prompt will appear allowing the user to create a planned action for a skin integrity check on the day they move in.

When clicking Yes on the prompt, a second prompt will appear allowing you to select the time for the skin integrity check planned care to be created.

When clicking Confirm, the skin integrity planned care will be visible on the resident's planned care day.

Similarly, when a service user is unsuspended, the prompt will appear to schedule a planned action for a skin integrity check, now they have been readmitted. This feature will disabled by default when it's released. To enable it, go to Admin, select Organisational Details, click Customisation and uncheck "Skin integrity check on admission/readmission prompt"

Wound Care Plans - Purpose T

As part of the requirement to evidence on the wound care plan when a specific pressure injury assessment is required, it is now possible to configure which pressure injury tool your organisation uses. To configure, click on the Admin menu – click Organisation details – click Customisation link. Within this page, there is an option for Pressure injury assessment used.

By default the assessment used will be set to Waterlow. However this can be changed to the Braden scale or Purpose T as needed.

It is also possible to configure the assessment used per care site, in the instance where a home may use a different tool to the rest of the organisation.

To do so, click on the Admin menu – click Organisation details – click the relevant care site (home name with a blue background). By default the Pressure injury assessment used option will be set to Null, which indicates it is taking on the organisation’s setting.

If set to one of the other options not set at the organisation level, the home will display that assessment on the wound care plan. Once the configuration is saved, the selected pressure injury risk assessment score will display in the wound care plan.

Keeping Safe in Bed Assessment Naming

A small tweak has been made to the keeping safe in bed (bed rails) risk assessment to ensure the name of the assessment is consistent throughout.
