How to Effectively Use the Wound Care Summary Report in mCare

The Wound Care Summary report in mCare is a valuable tool for tracking and managing wound care. This guide provides an overview of common issues and solutions related to filtering, classification, and navigation within the report.

Overview of the Wound Care Summary Report

The Wound Care Summary report is designed to provide a comprehensive view of wound care records. To access the report:

  1. Open the mCare on the desktop browser.

  2. Navigate to the Reports menu.

  3. Locate the Wound Care Summary report under the Reports dropdown menu.

Common Filtering Issues and Solutions

Why don’t open wounds appear in the Wound Care Summary report?

If a wound is recorded as an infection, it will not appear in the Wound Care Summary. Instead, these entries are listed in the Reports > Infections Register. To ensure a wound appears in the Wound Care Summary:

  • Check the classification of the wound.

  • If it’s logged as an infection, review it in the Infections Register.

  • Reclassify the wound as a wound rather than an infection if necessary.

Why don’t some wounds appear when filtering for new wounds?

Wounds marked as “pre-existing” will not appear when filtering for “new wounds.” The “new wounds” filter only displays wounds acquired in the home. To view pre-existing wounds:

  • Remove the “new wounds” filter.

  • Alternatively, select the “all wounds” option to display all wound records.

How can I hide closed wounds in the Wound Care Summary report?

To exclude closed wounds from the report:

  • Use the report’s filters to select Open wounds.

  • This filter will display only open wounds and exclude closed wound care records.

Tips for Effective Use

  • Regularly review the classification of wounds to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Familiarise yourself with the filtering options to customise the report view according to your needs.

  • Use the Infections Register for wounds classified as infections to maintain a clear distinction between wound types.
